On March 21st and 22nd, the approval meeting for the Sino-British joint education program by the UK QAA (Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education) was held in the multi-functional conference hall of our school’s Yubei campus via video conference. Professor PhilDeans, President of Richmond American University London, Professor Zhang Xinsheng, Vice President, and more than 10 experts from the University of Aberdeen, Durham University, and Richmond University in the UK; Cao Jian, Director of the Marketing Department of China Education Group, Wu Jinzhou, Director of the Teaching and Human Resources Department, Wang Shanming, Director of the Strategy and Investment Department, and Wang Yuyan, International Education Manager of the Teaching and Human Resources Department; our school’s President Li Keyong, Vice Presidents Wang Guangming, Yang Haitao, Xi Zhengxin, and Liu Yi, Assistant of President Ji Gongguan, heads of relevant departments, Party and government leaders of the School of English, and representatives of teachers and students participated in this meeting together.

After the “Senior Management Team Meeting,” “Professional Team Meeting,” “Teaching Management Team Meeting,” and “Student Representative Meeting,” the QAA approval team unanimously agreed that our school has passed the approval for this Sino-British joint education program.

During the two-day meeting, the QAA expert group had detailed and in-depth exchanges and discussions with the group leaders, school leaders, heads of various departments, and student and teacher representatives on issues such as school talent training, curriculum setting, examination management, graduation thesis management, teaching resource allocation, faculty strength, staff capacity building, recruitment, and campus security, achieving good results. After the meeting, the QAA approval expert group provided feedback on the overall situation of this approval work to our school, affirmed the efforts made by our school for the approval work, praised the environment, facilities, extracurricular activities, and student training of our school, and put forward relevant suggestions and requirements for subsequent approval work.

Since the launch of the approval work for the Sino-British joint education program, with the strong support and guidance of the leaders of China Education Group, under the overall planning of the school leaders, and with the unremitting efforts of the Academic Affairs Office, relevant departments, and the School of English, after repeated benchmarking, communication, and material rectification, the approval work for the Sino-British joint education program has been successfully completed, marking that Chongqing Institute of Foreign Studies has been recognized by QAA. The courses learned by students in the joint education program meet both Chinese and British standards, which can not only broaden students’ international horizons but also enhance their employment competitiveness and help students continue to study abroad. The successful completion of the approval work for the Sino-British joint education program will play an important role in the implementation of our school’s international education strategy, further improve the level of international education and international talent training of our school and is an important milestone in promoting the internationalization of education in our school!
