On November 12th-13th, the programme validation event for the Sino-British joint education program by the UK QAA (Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education) was held in the multi-functional conference hall of our school’s Yubei campus via video conference. The dual-degree program under accreditation this time is English Language and International Business. Participants in the event included Professor Kelly, President of Richmond American University London, Professor Zhang Xinsheng, numerous experts from the University of Southampton, the University of Wales Trinity Saint David, and Richmond University. Wang Shanming, Director of the Strategy and Investment Department of China Education Group, our school’s President Li Keyong, Vice Presidents Liu Yi and Xi Zhengxin, heads of relevant departments, the leadership team of the School of English, members of the programme validation team, and representatives of teachers and students from the School of English.
After the “Senior Management Team Meeting,” “programme Team Meeting,” and “Student Representative Meeting,” the QAA accreditation panel unanimously agreed that our school has passed the programme validation for this Sino-British joint education program. This marks another significant step towards internationalized education for our school following the successful QAA institutional approval last year, and it also enriches the connotation of our school’s internationalized education.
After a two-day meeting, the QAA expert panel engaged in detailed and in-depth discussions with the group leaders, school leaders, heads of various departments, the programme team from the School of English, and student representatives on issues such as talent trainning, curriculum design, examination management, teaching resource allocation, faculty strength, staff capacity development, and recruitment for the program. The discussions yielded positive outcomes. Following the meeting, the QAA accreditation panel provided feedback on the overall situation of the validation process to our school, affirming the efforts made by our school for the validation work. They expressed satisfaction with the program’s planning, student support, and resource allocation and offered relevant suggestions and requirements for subsequent accreditation work.
Since the launch of the programme validation for the Sino-British joint education program, with the support and assistance of the leaders of China Education Group, under the overall planning of the school leaders, and through the unremitting efforts of the leadership and teachers of the School of English, the program has undergone repeated benchmarking, communication, and material rectification. After more than a year, the programme validation work for the Sino-British joint education program was successfully completed, marking that Chongqing Institute of Foreign Studies has been recognized by the UK Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education. The courses learned by students in the joint education program meet both Chinese and British standards, which can not only broaden students’ international horizons but also enhance their employment competitiveness and help students continue to study abroad. The successful completion of the programme validation work for the Sino-British joint education program will play an important role in the implementation of our school’s international education strategy, further improve the level of international education and international talent trainning of our school and is an important milestone in promoting the internationalization of education in our school!
